S (Saad)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad, and by the Qur'an full of exhortation! 1 No, the unbelievers exalt in their division. 2 How many generations We have destroyed before them! And they cried out when it was too late to escape. 3 And they were surprised that a Herald of Warning came to them from among themselves; and the disbelievers said, “He is a magician, a great liar!” 4 Maketh he the gods One Allah? Lo! that is an astounding thing. 5 And the eminent among them went forth, [saying], "Continue, and be patient over [the defense of] your gods. Indeed, this is a thing intended. 6 We have not heard of this in the latest religion. This is not but a fabrication. 7 Was the message sent only to him out of all of us?" In fact, they doubt My warning; in fact, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Or have they the treasuries of thy Lord's mercy, the All-mighty, the All-giving? 9 Or do they possess the dominion of the heavens and the earth and of all that is in between them? If so, let them ascend the heights of the realm of causation and see! 10 But there - will be put to flight even a host of confederates. 11 Cried lies before them the people of Noah, and Ad, and Pharaoh, he of the tent-pegs, 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 There was not one of them but treated their messengers as liars, so My punishment rightly overtook them: 14
