In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Sad. CONSIDER this Qur'an, endowed with all that one ought to remember! 1 Nay, but the unbelievers are steeped in arrogance and stubborn defiance. 2 How many a generation We have destroyed before them, and they cried out when there was no longer time for escape! 3 Now they marvel that a warner has come to them from among them; and the unbelievers say, 'This is a lying sorcerer. 4 What, has he made the gods One God? This is indeed a marvellous thing.' 5 And their leaders went about, “Leave him and cling steadfastly to your Gods! Indeed he has a hidden objective in this!” 6 "We have not heard (the like) of this among the people of these later days. This is nothing but an invention! 7 To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet! 8 Do they possess the treasures of your Lord, the Most Mighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Have they control over heavens and earth and whatever [lies] between them? Then let them climb up to heaven by ropes: 10 The army is defeated as (were) the confederates. 11 Before them (were many who) belied Messengers, the people of Nuh (Noah); and 'Ad; and Fir'aun (Pharaoh) the man of stakes (with which he used to punish the people), 12 And Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the Companions of the Wood; - such were the Confederates. 13 Not one of them but belied the Messengers, therefore My Torment was justified, 14
