And We did not create the heaven and the earth and what is between them in vain; that is the opinion of those who disbelieve then woe to those who disbelieve on account of the fire. 27 Or should we treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like corrupters in the land? Or should We treat those who fear Allah like the wicked? 28 This is a blessed Book which We sent down to you [Muhammad], for people to ponder over its messages, and for those with understanding to take heed. 29 And We gave unto David Solomon; how excellent a servant he was! He was a penitent. 30 When his dressage steeds were presented to him in the evening, 31 Therefore Sulaiman said, “I cherish the love of these horses*, out of remembrance of my Lord”; he then ordered them to be raced until they vanished in a curtain out of sight. (To be used in holy war.) 32 Bring them back unto me; and he set about slashing their legs and necks. 33 Surely We put Solomon to the test and cast upon his throne a mere body. Thereupon he penitently turned (to Us). 34 Saying: "O Lord, forgive me, and give me such a dominion as none will merit after me. You are the great bestower." 35 Then We subjected the wind to his power, so that it blew gently, at his behest, wherever he willed, 36 and also the jinn, every kind of builder and diver 37 The rest of the devils were bound in chains. 38 (Saying): This is Our gift, so bestow thou, or withhold, without reckoning. 39 Indeed an exalted position of nearness awaits him and an excellent resort. 40
