Not without purpose did We create heaven and earth and all between! that were the thought of Unbelievers! but woe to the Unbelievers because of the Fire (of Hell)! 27 Do We consider the righteously striving believers equal to the evil-doers in the land? Are the pious ones equal to those who openly commit sin? 28 This is a Book We have sent down unto thee, blest, that they may ponder the revelations thereof, and that there may be admonished men of understanding. 29 We bestowed upon David (an illustrious son), Solomon. How excellent a servant (of Ours he was)! Indeed he constantly turned to Us in devotion. 30 When fast footed steeds were presented to him at evening. 31 he would say: "Verily, I have come to love the love of all that is good because I bear my Sustainer in mind!" [repeating these words as the steeds raced away,] until they were hidden by the veil [of distance - whereupon he would command,] 32 "Bring them back to me!" -- [he said] and began to stroke their legs and their necks. 33 We tried Solomon by placing upon his throne a [lifeless] body; and thereupon he turned towards Us]. 34 He prayed, "Lord forgive me! Grant me such power as no one after me will have -- You are the Most Generous Provider." 35 We therefore gave the wind under his control, moving steadily by his command wherever he wished. 36 And the unruly, every builder and diver (made We subservient), 37 And others linked together in chains, 38 “This is Our bestowal – you may therefore bestow favours or withhold them – you will not be questioned.” 39 Indeed an exalted position of nearness awaits him and an excellent resort. 40
