SAY [O Muhammad]: "I am only a warner; and there is no deity whatever save God, the One, who holds absolute sway over all that exists, 65 Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver." 66 Say: "This is a message tremendous: 67 but you have turned away from it. 68 I had no knowledge of the Highest Chiefs when they disputed; 69 it has only been revealed to me that I am a plain warner." 70 When your Lord said to the angels: 'I am creating a human from clay, 71 and when I have formed him fully and breathed My spirit into him, prostrate yourselves before him." 72 Then the angels bowed themselves all together, 73 except Iblis. He waxed proud and became one of the unbelievers. 74 (Allah) said: "O Iblis! What prevents thee from prostrating thyself to one whom I have created with my hands? Art thou haughty? Or art thou one of the high (and mighty) ones?" 75 Answered [Iblis]: "I am better than he: Thou hast created me out of fire, whereas him Thou hast created out of clay." 76 He said: Go forth from hence, for lo! thou art outcast, 77 And verily My curse shall be on thee till the Day of Requital, 78 He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected." 79 Allah said: verily, thou art of those respited. 80 Until the day of the time appointed. 81 Said he, 'Now, by Thy glory, I shall pervert them all together, 82 Save Thy single-minded slaves among them. 83 Said He, 'This is the truth, and the truth I say; 84 That I shall fill hell with thee and with such of them as follow thee, together. 85 (O Prophet), tell them: “I do not ask you for any recompense for the performance of this task; nor am I given to affectation. 86 It is naught but an admonition unto the worlds. 87 "And you shall certainly know the truth of it after a while. 88
