Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful Allah: 2 A Book whose verses have been detailed, an Arabic Qur'an for a people who know, 3 proclaiming good news and a warning. Yet most of them turn away and so do not listen. 4 They say, 'Our hearts are veiled from what thou callest us to, and in our ears is a heaviness, and between us and thee there is a veil; so act; we are acting!' 5 Say thou: "I am but a man like you: It is revealed to me by Inspiration, that your Allah is one Allah: so stand true to Him, and ask for His Forgiveness." And woe to those who join gods with Allah,- 6 Those who do not give the obligatory charity, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 For those who believe and work deeds of righteousness is a reward that will never fail. 8
