And in the past We gave Moses the Book and yet it became an object of dispute. If your Lord's decree had not gone forth before, a decisive judgement would have been made among them, once and for all. Surely they are in a disquieting doubt about it. 45 Whosoever worketh righteously it is for his soul, and whosoever worketh evil it is against it. And thine Lord is not an oppressor unto His bondmen. 46 ۞ He alone has knowledge of the Hour (of change): No fruit comes Out of its spathe, no female conceives or gives birth, but He has knowledge of it. The day He will call them (and ask): "Where are the compeers (you ascribed to Me)?" They will answer: "We profess to You not one of us can vouch for them." 47 Then all those deities whom they once used to call upon shall vanish and they will come to know for sure that there is no escape for them. 48 Man wearies not of praying for good; but when evil visits him, then he is cast down and desperate. 49 And if We let him taste mercy from Us after an adversity which has touched him, he will surely say, "This is [due] to me, and I do not think the Hour will occur; and [even] if I should be returned to my Lord, indeed, for me there will be with Him the best." But We will surely inform those who disbelieved about what they did, and We will surely make them taste a massive punishment. 50 And when We favour man, he turns away and goes back afar; and when some hardship reaches him, he comes with a vast prayer! 51 Say: "Just think. If this is from God and you deny it, who will be in greater error than he who is in open dissent?" 52 We will show them Our signs in all the horizons and in themselves, until it is clear to them that it is the truth. Is it not sufficient that your Lord is witness over everything' 53 Unquestionably, they are in doubt about the meeting with their Lord. Unquestionably He is, of all things, encompassing. 54
