Whatever hardship befalls you is the result of your own deeds. God pardons many of your sins. 30 And you cannot escape from Allah (i.e. His Punishment) in the earth, and besides Allah you have neither any Wali (guardian or a protector) nor any helper. 31 And among His signs are the ships in the sea like mountains. 32 If He willeth He causeth the wind to cease so that they keep still on the back thereof; verily therein are signs for every patient, grateful person. 33 or He could have destroyed them as punishment for the human being's deeds. However, God pardons many sins. 34 Let those who dispute Our signs know that there is no way of escape for them. 35 Whatsoever you have been given is only this life's merchandise; but what is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and place their trust in their Lord, 36 who refrain from heinous sins and gross indecencies; who forgive when they are angry; 37 and who respond to [the call of] their Sustainer and are constant in prayer; and whose rule [in all matters of common concern] is consultation among themselves; and who spend on others out of what We provide for them as sustenance; 38 And those who, when great wrong is done to them, defend themselves, 39 But [remember that an attempt at] requiting evil may, too, become an evil: hence, whoever pardons [his foe] and makes peace, his reward rests with God - for, verily, He does not love evildoers. 40 And whoever avenges himself after having been wronged - those have not upon them any cause [for blame]. 41 The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress mankind, and wrongfully rebel in the earth. For such there is a painful doom. 42 But he who patiently endures and forgives, that is a conduct of great resolve. 43
