Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 By the Clear Book 2 Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand. 3 And Verily, it (this Quran) is in the Mother of the Book (i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz), before Us, indeed Exalted, full of Wisdom. 4 Shall We utterly ignore you because ye are a wanton folk? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the ancients, 6 And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him. 7 so We destroyed those who were mightier than these; such was the example of the earlier peoples. 8 (Muhammad), if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will certainly say, "The Majestic and All-knowing God has created them". 9 He who appointed the earth to be a cradle for you, and appointed ways for you therein, that haply you may be guided; 10 It is He who has sent down water from the sky in a known measure by which He has given life to the dead earth. In the same way will you also be resurrected. 11 And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount. 12 In order that you may mount firmly on their backs, and then may remember the Favour of your Lord when you mount thereon, and say: "Glory to Him who has subjected this to us, and we could never have it (by our efforts)." 13 To our Lord we shall all return". 14 Yet they assign to some of His slaves a share with Him (by pretending that He has children, and considering them as equals or co-partners in worship with Him). Verily, man is indeed a manifest ingrate! 15
