And when Ibrahim said to his father and his people, “I have no relation whatsoever with your deities.” 26 except Him who originated me; and He will guide me. 27 And he made it a word remaining among his descendants that they might return [to it]. 28 Nay, but I gave these and their fathers enjoyment of days, until the truth came unto them, and a manifest Messenger. 29 And when there came to them the truth they said: This is magic, and surely we are disbelievers in it. 30 And they say: Why was not this Quran revealed to a man of importance in the two towns? 31 Are they the distributors of your Lord’s mercy? We have distributed among them their comforts in the life of this world, and gave high status to some over others so that they mock at each other; and the mercy of your Lord is better than all what they hoard. 32 And were it not that all mankind would have become of one community (all disbelievers, desiring worldly life only), We would have provided for those who disbelieve in the Most Beneficent (Allah), silver roofs for their houses, and elevators (and stair-ways, etc. of silver) whereby they ascend, 33 with doors to their houses and couches on which to recline; 34 or that they be made of gold. Surely all this is only the enjoyment of the life of the world. But (true prosperity) in the Hereafter with Your Lord is only for the God-fearing. 35
