And he whose sight is dim to the remembrance of the Beneficent, We assign unto him a devil who becometh his comrade; 36 And verily they hinder them from the way, whilst they deem that they are rightly guided. 37 But in the end, when he [who has thus sinned] appears before us [on Judgment Day,] he will say [to his other self,] "Would that between me and thee there had been the distance of east and west!" for, evil indeed [has proved] that other self! 38 When ye have done wrong, it will avail you nothing, that Day, that ye shall be partners in Punishment! 39 (Muhammad), can you make the deaf hear or guide the blind or the one who is clearly in error? 40 Even if We take thee away, We shall be sure to exact retribution from them, 41 Or (if) We show you that wherewith We threaten them, then verily, We have perfect command over them. 42 Therefore, hold fast to that which is revealed to you, indeed, you are on the Straight Path. 43 The (Qur'an) is indeed the message, for thee and for thy people; and soon shall ye (all) be brought to account. 44 And question thou our messengers whom We sent before thee; did We appoint any deities other than (Allah) Most Gracious, to be worshipped? 45
