We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment, 30 from Pharaoh; surely he was a high One, of the prodigals; 31 And We knowingly chose them, among all others of their time. 32 and bestowed upon them the Signs wherein lay an evident test for them. 33 These people say, 34 There is naught but our first death and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring us our fathers, if you speak truly!' 36 Are they better than the tribe of Tubba (name of a Yemenite tribal chief) and those who lived before them? We destroyed them. They were criminals. 37 We did not idly create the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them; 38 We created them in nothing else except the truth. But most do not know. 39 The Day of Decision is the appointed time for all. 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 save those upon whom God will have bestowed His grace and mercy: for, verily, He alone is almighty, a dispenser of grace. 42
