Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 and the burden-bearers 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 And those (angels) who distribute (provisions, rain, and other blessings) by (Allah's) Command; 4 Verily, that which you are promised is true indeed, 5 And lo! the judgment will indeed befall. 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 Verily ye are in a divided opinion. 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Accursed be the conjecturers 10 who are heedless in the immersion. 11 They ask, "When will be the Day of Judgment and Justice?" 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 (And told:) "Taste your punishment. This is what you were trying to hasten." 14 Surely those who fear God and follow the straight path will be amidst gardens and fresh springs of water, 15 Accepting the rewards given by their Lord; they were indeed virtuous before this. 16 They slept but a little at night, 17 and in the mornings they would ask for forgiveness; 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 For those with sure belief there are signs in the earth, 20 And in yourselves. Then will you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your sustenance and what you are threatened with. 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
