Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 then the bearers of weight (the clouds), 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 And those who distribute (blessings) by command, 4 Verily that wherewith ye are threatened is surely true. 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 By the Sky with (its) numerous Paths, 7 Indeed, you are in differing speech. 8 he is turned away from [the truth] who is destined to be so turned away. 9 Slain be those who mould from their imaginations. 10 who flounder in the depths of ignorance. 11 They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?" 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 And it will be said to them, "Taste your own roasting; this is what you were impatient for." 14 The pious ones will live amidst gardens and springs, 15 receiving their reward from their Lord. They had been righteous people before the Day of Judgment. 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 and in their wealth was a share for whosoever asked and for whosoever was prevented. 19 AND ON EARTH there are signs [of God's existence, visible] to all who are endowed with inner certainty, 20 and also in yourselves. Can you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your sustenance and what you are threatened with. 22 This, by the Lord of the heavens and the earth is as certain as your ability to speak. 23
