Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 And those who move (on the water) gently, 3 And those who distribute (it) by command, 4 Verily that wherewith ye are threatened is surely true. 5 The Judgement will indeed take place. 6 And by oath of the decorated heaven. 7 Most surely you are at variance with each other in what you say, 8 Through which are deluded (away from the Truth) such as would be deluded. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. 11 They ask: “When will the Day of Judgement be?” 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (and tested) over the Fire! 13 And it will be said to them, “Taste your own roasting; this is what you were impatient for.” 14 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), 15 receiving their reward from their Lord. They had been righteous people before the Day of Judgment. 16 they would lie asleep during but a small part of the night, 17 and in the mornings they would ask for forgiveness; 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 And on the earth are signs for those who have Faith with certainty, 20 As also in your own selves: Will ye not then see? 21 And in heaven is your Sustenance, as (also) that which ye are promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak. 23
