Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 And (the clouds) that bear heavy weight of water; 2 And those that glide with ease (upon the sea) 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 Lo! that wherewith ye are threatened is indeed true, 5 and the recompense shall surely happen. 6 By the heaven full of paths. 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 he is turned away from [the truth] who is destined to be so turned away. 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 Those who are in heedlessness neglectful. 11 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? 12 On that Day they shall be tried at the Fire, 13 Taste your burning: this is that which ye sought to be hastened. 14 As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs, 15 Accepting the rewards given by their Lord; they were indeed virtuous before this. 16 they used to sleep but little by night, 17 And ere the dawning of each day would seek forgiveness, 18 and in their wealth there was a rightful share for him who would ask and for the destitute. 19 There are many Signs on earth for those of sure faith, 20 And in your own souls (too); will you not then see? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 So, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, this is certainly true, as true as the fact of your speaking. 23
