Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and the day in splendour 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 And rejects the best, 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
