Al-Dhaareyaat 2 of 3
Has there reached you the story of the honored guests of Abraham? - 24 When they came to him they said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" [saying to himself]. "They are strangers." 25 Then he turned aside to his family secretly and brought a fat (roasted) calf, 26 He then presented it before them and said, “Do you not eat?” 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 So hearing his wife went forth shouting. She struck her face and exclaimed: “A barren old woman am I.” 29 They said, "Even so has thy Lord spoken: and He is full of Wisdom and Knowledge." 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: And (afterward) what is your errand, O ye sent (from Allah)? 31 They said, “We have been sent towards a guilty nation.” 32 To send down upon them stones of clay, 33 Marked by thy Lord for (the destruction of) the wanton. 34 And in the course of time We brought out [of Lot 's city] such [few] believers as were there: 35 but We found only one Muslim house. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the afflictive torment. 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 Then he turned away with his court, and said: a magician or a madman. 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 In 'Ad (also is a sign), when We sent a blasting wind against them, 41 which spared nothing of what it came upon, but caused [all of] it to become like bones dead and decayed. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 Then they disdained the command of their Lord; wherefore the bolt laid hold of them even while they looked on. 44 Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 (So were) the people of Nuh (Noah) before them. Verily, they were a people who were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). 46

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
