Thamood cried lies to the Envoys 141 When their brother Salih said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 142 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 143 So fear Allah and obey me. 144 For this I demand no recompense from you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 145 (Do you think) you will be left secure here 146 In gardens and springs. 147 sown fields and palmtrees, with slender spathes. 148 And hew ye out houses in the mountains skilfully! 149 Have fear of God and obey me. 150 And obey not the command of the prodigal, 151 who do corruption in the earth, and set not things aright.' 152 Said they: "Thou art but one of the bewitched! 153 “You are just a human like us; therefore bring some sign if you are truthful.” 154 He said: This is a she-camel; she shall have her portion of water, and you have your portion of water on an appointed time; 155 And do not touch her with evil, lest the punishment of a grievous day should overtake you. 156 But they hamstrung her, then regretted; 157 So the chastisement seized them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 158 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 159
