Has the story of Abraham's honoured guests come to you? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 He went quietly to his wife and returned to his guests with a fat, roasted calf. 26 And placed it before them.. he said, "Will ye not eat?" 27 So he conceived in his mind a fear on account of them. They said: Fear not. And they gave him the good news of a boy possessing knowledge. 28 Then his wife drew near vociferating, and smote her face, and said: an old barren woman! 29 'Such, says your Lord' they replied: 'He is the Wise, the Knower' 30 ۞ Said he, 'And what is your business, envoys?' 31 They said: verily we are sent unto a people, guilty. 32 so that we bring down stones of clay upon them 33 "Marked as from thy Lord for those who trespass beyond bounds." 34 Then We evacuated there from all the believers 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 And so We left therein a message for those who fear the grievous suffering [which awaits all evildoers]. 37 There is also a Sign for you in the story of Moses when We sent him with a clear authority to Pharaoh. 38 But he withdrew (confiding) in his might, and said: A wizard or a madman. 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 And in Aad. We let loose on them a withering wind 41 that left nothing it came upon, but made it as stuff decayed. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 But they brazenly disobeyed their Lord's command, and then a sudden chastisement overtook them while they looked on. 44 And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
