Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they entered unto him, saying 'Peace!' he said 'Peace! You are a people unknown to me.' 25 Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahim (Abraham) was mainly cows]. 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: Fear not! and gave him tidings of (the birth of) a wise son. 28 Then came forward his wife, clamouring, and she smote her face, and said, 'An old woman, barren!' 29 "Such is the will of your Lord," they replied. "He is the Wise, the All Knowing." 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "Messengers, what is your task?" 31 They said: "We have been sent to a wicked people 32 to let loose upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement, 33 marked by your Lord upon those who go beyond the limits.” 34 Thus We brought forth from therein who were believers. 35 but We found not therein except one house of those that have surrendered themselves. 36 and We left therein a Sign for those who fear the grievous chastisement. 37 And in Moses (was another Sign): Behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest. 38 But he turned away with his supporters and said," A magician or a madman." 39 So We seized him and his hosts and flung them in the sea, for he was reprobate. 40 There is also evidence of the Truth in the story of Ad whom We struck with a violent wind 41 that left nothing it came upon, but made it as stuff decayed. 42 And in Thamood it was said to them: 'Take your enjoyment for awhile' 43 But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on. 44 And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And the people of Noah before; surely they were an ungodly people. 46
