The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 And the Book written 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
