The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Mount 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 And the House frequented, 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 And the swollen sea 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 such as play at plunging, 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
