The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount; 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 by the Visited House, 4 The roof raised high, 5 and the sea swarming, 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
