The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER Mount Sinai! 1 and the Book inscribed 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 And the lofty roof. 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 And they [who are thus blest] will turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
