(Muhammad), remind them, by the Grace of your Lord, that you are neither a soothsayer or an insane person. 29 Or do they say: "(Muhammad SAW is) a poet! We await for him some calamity by time! 30 Say (unto them): Except (your fill)! Lo! I am with you among the expectant. 31 Or, do their intellects order them to do this? Or, are they an insolent people? 32 What! They say, “He has invented the Qur'an”? Rather they do not have faith. 33 (If they are truthful in this), then let them produce a discourse of similar splendour. 34 Did they come into being without any creator? Or were they their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they are sure of nothing! 36 [How could they?] Are thy Sustainer's treasures with them? Or are they in charge [of destiny]? 37 Have they a ladder up to heaven by means of which they can overhear? Then let their listeners bring a clear proof. 38 Or, has He daughters, and they sons? 39 Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down? 40 Is with them the Unseen, and they write it down! 41 Or do they desire a war? But those who disbelieve shall be the vanquished ones in war. 42 Is theirs a god beside Allah? Hallowed be Allah from that which they associate! 43 (So obstinate are they that) even if they were to see some fragments of the sky falling down they would still say: “It is only a mass of cloud.” 44 Hence, leave them alone until they face that [Judgment] Day of theirs, when they will be stricken with terror: 45 Their deception will not avail them in the least on that day, nor will they be helped. 46 Surely a chastisement awaits the wrong-doers even before the coming of that Day; but most of them do not know. 47 So wait patiently (O Muhammad) for thy Lord's decree, for surely thou art in Our sight; and hymn the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest, 48 And for part of the night also praise thou Him,- and at the retreat of the stars! 49
