Therefore continue to give warning, for by the grace of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or do they say: 'He is a poet, we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him' 30 Say thou: "Wait, [then,] hopefully; behold, I, too, shall hopefully wait with you!" 31 Or do their minds command them to [say] this, or are they a transgressing people? 32 Or do they say, "He fabricated the (Message)"? Nay, they have no faith! 33 Let them produce a phrase like it, if what they say is true! 34 Have they not been created by aught, or are they the creators? 35 Or, did they create the heavens and the earth? No, their belief is not certain! 36 Or have they the depositories [containing the provision] of your Lord? Or are they the controllers [of them]? 37 Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority. 38 Or, has He daughters, and they sons? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are over-burdened by debt? 40 Or is the Unseen in their keeping, and so they are writing it down? 41 Do they want to hatch some plot? Those who deny the truth will be the victims of the plot. 42 Or do they have a God besides Allah? Purity is to Allah from their ascribing of partners to Him. 43 Even if they saw lumps falling from the sky they would say: 'A massed cloud' 44 So leave them alone till they meet their Day, in which they will sink into a fainting (with horror). 45 A Day whereon their plotting will avail them not at all, nor will they be succoured. 46 The unjust will suffer other torments besides this but most of them do not know. 47 And wait thou patiently the judgment of thy Lord; verily thou art before Our eyes; and hallow the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest. 48 And for part of the night also praise thou Him,- and at the retreat of the stars! 49
