So exhort (them, O Prophet), for by your Lord's Grace, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Or do they say [of you], "A poet for whom we await a misfortune of time?" 30 Say (unto them): Except (your fill)! Lo! I am with you among the expectant. 31 Does their reason tell them to say this or is it because they are a rebellious people? 32 Or do they say, "He has made it up"? Rather, they do not believe. 33 So let them bring a single discourse like it, if they are truthful. 34 Did they come into being without any creator? Or were they their own creators? 35 Have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact, they have no strong faith. 36 Do they own the treasures of your Lord, or have they been given charge of them? 37 Or do they have any stairs, climbing upon which they eavesdrop? So their eavesdropper should bring some clear proof! 38 Or has He daughters while you have sons? 39 Or askest thou (Muhammad) a fee from them so that they are plunged in debt? 40 Or that the Ghaib (unseen) is with them, and they write it down? 41 Seek they to lay a plot? Then those who disbelieve it is they who shall be plotted against. 42 Or have they a god other than God? Exalted be God over what they ascribe as partners [to Him]! 43 And if they were to see a piece of the heaven falling down, they would say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!" 44 Wherefore let them alone, till they meet their Day whereon they shall swoon. 45 The Day their plan will not avail them at all, nor will they be helped. 46 And indeed, for those who have wronged is a punishment before that, but most of them do not know. 47 And be patient under the Judgement of your Lord, surely, you are before Our Eyes. And exalt with the praise of your Lord when you arise, 48 And for part of the night also praise thou Him,- and at the retreat of the stars! 49
