The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the declining star, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he deluded; 2 nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is not but a revelation revealed, 4 something that a very mighty one has imparted to him: 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 He (Gabriel) then came nearer and nearer. 8 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 And he certainly saw him in another descent 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 near unto the garden of promise. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 That is indeed an unfair division! 22 They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 Rather, to Allah belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 25
