The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it descends, 1 Your companion did not err, nor did he go astray. 2 and neither does he speak out of his own desire: 3 It is not but a revelation revealed, 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 standing poised at the highest point on the horizon, 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 So Allah divinely revealed to His bondman, whatever He divinely revealed. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 And assuredly he saw him at another descent. 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 near which is the Garden of Abode. 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 He certainly saw the greatest (signs) of the existence of his Lord. 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 and about the third deity, al-Manat? 20 What, have you males, and He females? 21 That indeed is an unfair division -- 22 They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 All that is in the life to come and all that is in this life belongs only to God. 25
