So did you observe him who turned away? 33 And gives a little and (then) withholds. 34 Is with him the knowledge of the unseen so that he sees? 35 Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses 36 And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (what Allah ordered him to do or convey), 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 And that for man shall be naught save that wherefor he endeavoureth. 39 That his endeavours will be judged, 40 whereupon he shall be requited for it with the fullest requital; 41 And that to your Lord is the goal- 42 It is He who causes laughter and weeping. 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 And that He creates the two mates - the male and female - 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 And that it is He Who enricheth and preserveth property. 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 And Thamud - and He did not spare [them] - 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 And He overthrew the Cities of the Plain, 53 And covered them by that which He covered. 54 Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt. 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 The Imminent is imminent; 57 No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. 58 Do you then find these tidings strange? 59 And will you laugh and not weep? 60 While ye amuse yourselves? 61 So prostrate yourselves before God and worship him. ۩ 62
