The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ Before them Noah's people also gave the lie (to his Message). They rejected Our servant as a liar, saying: “He is a madman”; and he was rebuffed. 9 Noah prayed, "Lord, help me; I am defeated". 10 We therefore opened the gates of heaven, with water flowing furiously. 11 and caused the earth to gush with springs, so that the waters met for a predestined matter. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And We left the Ark as a Sign. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. 19 It swept people away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
