The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 Thereupon he prayed unto his Lord: verily am overcome, so vindicate me. 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 And how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 'Ad also gave the lie (to Hud). So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
