The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 hastening towards the Crier. Those who deny the truth will cry, "This is such a hard day!" 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 We carried him in a well built, watertight vessel made from planks (of wood) 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How terrible then was My punishment and My warning. 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
