The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 We carried him in a well built, watertight vessel made from planks (of wood) 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
