The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 Containing consummate wisdom; yet warnings were of no avail. 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
