The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 17 'Ad also gave the lie (to Hud). So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
