The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Last Day came near, and the moon split apart. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
