The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 Yet if they see a sign (the unbelievers) turn their backs and say: 'This is but a continuation of sorcery' 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And We left the Ark as a Sign. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
