The people of Thamud rejected Our warnings. 23 they said, "Are we to follow a man from amongst ourselves? We would surely then fall into error and madness. 24 Out of all of us has the Reminder been given to him alone? Rather, he is indeed an arrogant liar' 25 "Tomorrow they will know who is the impudent liar! 26 Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 Then they called their comrade, and he took in hand, and hamstrung her. 29 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 The people of Lut rejected (his) warning. 33 Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 And indeed he had warned them of Our seizure – in response they doubted the warnings. 36 And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning." 37 And indeed, the everlasting punishment overcame them early in the morning. 38 So taste My chastisement and My warning. 39 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 40
