The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 He created man 3 and He has taught him the Explanation. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 And Allah has raised the sky; and He has set the balance. 7 In order that you may not transgress (due) balance. 8 And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance. 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 Therein are fruits and palm trees with sheaths, 11 grain with its husk and aromatic herbs. 12 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 and has created the jinn from the flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 The Lord of the Two Easts, the Lord of the Two Wests. 17 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 and between them is a barrier which they do not overpass. 20 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 Which, of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
