The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 who taught the Quran -- 2 He created man 3 and He taught him speech. 4 The sun and the moon move according to a fixed reckoning; 5 And the grasses and the trees bow (to Him) in adoration. 6 He raised the sky and set the Balance 7 In order that ye may not transgress (due) balance. 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 And earth -- He set it down for all beings, 10 Therein are fruits and palm trees with sheaths, 11 and a variety of corn with both husk and grain. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He created man of fermented clay dried tinkling hard like earthen ware, 14 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together: 19 Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. 20 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 Which, of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 23 And His are the ships reared aloft in the sea like mountains. 24 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 25
