The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And shade extended 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
