The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
