The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and serried acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water poured out 31 and fruits abounding 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
