The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
