The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
