The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 there is no denying its coming 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and banana trees, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
