The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
