The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and extended shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
